Are there specific college scholarships for adopted children from Guatemala?

I'm trying to find scholarships that cater to adopted students, especially those from Guatemala. Does anyone know of any scholarship programs that might be a good fit? It'd be great to hear if anyone has experience applying for these.

There are indeed scholarships specifically established to aid adopted children as they embark on their college journey. I'm not sure if there are scholarships strictly tailored towards adopted children from Guatemala, but there are broader outlines that such students have been successful in securing.

One program worth mentioning is the Adoption Network Law Center Scholarship. This program offers awards irrespective of the country from which the student was adopted. It primarily considers the student's achievement, their story of adoption, and how they plan to use their education to give back to the community.

Also, you can check out the Casey Family Scholars Program. The scholarship is intended for young adults who have spent at least 12 months in foster care and were not adopted before their 18th birthday. Some students adopted after their 16th birthday might also be eligible. Despite not being Guatemala-specific, it might be relevant depending on your circumstances.

Remember to look outside of adoption-specific scholarships too. For instance, if you are a first-generation American, there are scholarships available that target first-generation students.

Lastly, it's always advisable to fill out the FAFSA. Even if you don't think you'll qualify for need-based aid, many scholarships require a FAFSA to be on file. Make sure to maximize your opportunities.

Apply to as many scholarships as applicable and relevant to your specific situation. Good luck with your applications!
