Does anyone have info on the Tawas Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship?

I'm considering applying for the Tawas Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship and was wondering if anyone has experience with the application process. How competitive is it, and what are the main criteria for selection?

The Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship is indeed a competitive scholarship. It is one of the largest scholarships accessible to high school senior students in the United States. The Foundation awards up to 500 four-year scholarships each year, so while there are a significant number of scholarships given out, the number of applicants is also large, making it a competitive scholarship.

The selection process is based on a couple of key factors. Primarily, the scholarship judges look at academics, leadership, and financial need.

Academically, they will evaluate coursework rigor, class rank, and test scores. Leadership is assessed through participation in school and community activities, as well as any awards you've received in those areas.

Financial need is evaluated based on the information you provide in the Financial Need worksheet that's part of the Most Valuable Student application packet. The Elks foundation highly values supporting students who show great promise but may lack the necessary financial resources to pursue their academic dreams.

Being thorough and thoughtful in your responses to the questions on the application form, and providing detailed explanations of your accomplishments in academics and leadership roles will strengthen your application. As you gather the necessary information to fill out the application form, be mindful that it's not just about listing achievements; it directly requires you to reflect on your activities and your roles and articulate that in a way that will resonate with the scholarship judges.

Remember, the Elks scholarship doesn't just look at what you've done, but how you've grown from your experiences and how you plan to apply them moving forward. Best of luck with your application process!
