Do Armenians have access to any specific college scholarships?

I’ve heard there might be scholarships specifically for Armenian students. Does anyone have info on what's available and how to apply? Any personal experiences or organizations to check out would be super helpful!

There are indeed scholarships specifically available for Armenian students, some even extend to students of Armenian descent. Here are a few examples:

1. The Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU): AGBU offers scholarships for students of Armenian descent who are pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies.

2. The Richard R. Tufenkian Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to students of Armenian descent who demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and are involved in the Armenian community.

3. The Armenian Professional Society: They offer scholarship to undergraduate and graduate students of Armenian descent based on academic achievement and financial need.

4. The Knights of Vartan Educational Scholarship: This is for full-time students of Armenian descent.

How to apply? Every scholarship has its own application process. Most likely, you will need to supply academic transcripts, demonstrate financial need, and fill out an application which often includes essays. For some scholarships, you may also have to provide proof of your Armenian heritage.

One precaution: Be aware of deadlines. These can vary but, generally speaking, the application period for scholarships is around the early part of the year. Always make sure you check the current deadline for each scholarship opportunity.

As for personal experiences, exact testimonies will differ, but many students express gratitude for the financial help and appreciation for the community that comes with such scholarships. It's a meaningful way to honor your heritage while pursuing your education.

In addition to these specific scholarships, be sure to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to understand your SAI and see what federal aid you qualify for. Also check out any merit-based scholarships provided by the colleges you are interested in. Many colleges offer generous packages and you definitely don't want to miss out on those.

Remember to keep track of your applications and deadlines, and good luck with your scholarship hunt!
