Scholarships for children of Army veterans?

My parent is an Army veteran, and I'm curious if there are scholarships for kids like me. Does anyone know where to look for these and how to apply? I'm just starting the college search and any help is appreciated!

Sure, there are a number of opportunities out there for you! Here are a few scholarships for children of Army veterans:

1. The American Legion has a scholarship specifically called the Legacy Scholarship. It's awarded to children of veterans who died in active duty post 9/11, or have a combined VA disability rating of 50% or greater.

2. Army Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for children of current or former Army service members. The amount can vary, and it's based on merit and need.

3. Fisher House Foundation's "Scholarships for Military Children" program. These are $2000 grants awarded to children of active duty, reserve/guard, or retired military commissary customers.

4. Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship is available to the spouse or lineage of a Purple Heart recipient.

Generally, the application process involves submitting standard information like your GPA and extracurricular activities. You'll also likely need to provide proof of your parent's veteran status. Most of these scholarships require you to write an essay as part of the application.

It's also a good idea to reach out to the financial aid offices at the colleges you're interested in. They may have additional resources or scholarships available for students with military connections.

Lastly, check out Appily, where you can create a profile and identify as a child of an army veteran. It will match you with scholarships that you may not have otherwise discovered. Be sure to start your scholarship application process early, and look out for deadlines. Good luck in your search!
