Athletic Scholarships for Asian Student Athletes?

Are there scholarships out there specifically for Asian student athletes? I'm really invested in sports and hoping to continue playing in college with some financial support.

Absolutely, there are scholarships available specifically for Asian student athletes, though they might not be as abundant as general athletic scholarships. One to consider is the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation (USPAACC), which offers scholarships to Asian and Pacific Islander students active in sports.

The Race for Education's API Equine Scholarships could also be an option for Asian students who are involved in equestrian sports. Keep in mind, of course, that "Athlete Scholarships" might not explicitly include the word "athlete" in their title.

It's also beneficial to research scholarships based on the sport you play. Many sports organizations cater to specific sports and they sometimes offer scholarships to athletes from diverse backgrounds.

Additionally, don't forget to apply for general athletic scholarships in addition to scholarships specifically for Asian students. You might be eligible for collegiate athletic scholarships provided by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), as well as scholarships from your prospective universities' athletic departments.

When you're looking to continue a sport in college, it's always important to meet with athletic coaches from your universities of interest. They could potentially advocate for you to get additional scholarship assistance.

Lastly, remember that there are many scholarship opportunities for Asian American and Pacific Islander students that aren’t related to athletics. These can be based on academics, community service, and other factors. While these scholarships may not explicitly involve athletics, they can provide a good source of additional financial aid. The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is one example of a scholarship opportunity that might not be tied to athletics but could still provide financial assistance.

Good luck with your athletic and academic journey!
