Nursing Scholarships for College: A Good Route?

I'm considering a career in nursing and want to explore scholarships to ease college expenses. Does anyone know of specific nursing scholarships for college students? I'd love to hear your insights or how these scholarships have helped in your nursing education path.

You're on the right track with looking for scholarships designed for nursing students. There are quite a few that are specifically intended for students pursuing nursing as a major, and they can really help reduce college expenses.

One example is The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) scholarship. They offer a variety of scholarships and financial aid opportunities for nursing students. Alongside this, there's The Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships, which provides awards for different areas of study, including nursing. It's a great opportunity to apply for, particularly if you have a demonstrable record of commitment to the field or notable achievement.

The Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association (FNSNA) also offers scholarships. They typically range between $1,000 and $7,500, and undergraduate nursing students can apply.

There's also the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program that's designed specifically for students who are accepted or enrolled in a diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate nursing degree program. If you don't mind a service commitment, it's worth looking into as it covers tuition, eligible fees, and other educational costs in return for working at an eligible Critical Shortage Facility upon graduation.

Lastly, check for scholarships through the colleges you're considering. More often than not, schools will offer their own scholarships specifically for nursing students, sometimes with very generous awards.

Remember, applying for scholarships is a numbers game; the more you apply for, the higher chance you have of getting some money. As long as you meet the criteria, it doesn't hurt to apply. Just be sure to pay attention to each application's deadline and requirements. That being said, a combination of scholarships and other financial aid can greatly ease the burden of college expenses.
