Which UC school provides the most scholarship money?

I'm considering applying to a UC school and am curious about which one offers the most scholarship money. I'm out-of-state, so any financial help would be amazing. Can anyone share some insights or experiences about UC financial aid?

When it comes to financial aid and scholarships, it's important to remember that all University of California (UC) campuses follow a similar financial aid process, and any variation in aid awarded is usually a result of specific scholarships available at a particular campus or the unique financial situation of the student. While the costs of attendance vary across campuses, UC schools are not known to have particularly large endowments compared to private universities or offer large merit scholarships, especially to out-of-state students.

UC Berkeley and UCLA are known to have a greater number of scholarships available due to their sheer size and wider alumni networks, but these scholarships are typically quite competitive. Furthermore, scholarships at UC schools, like at most public universities, are generally focused more on in-state students.

Regarding financial aid, although UC schools do offer financial aid to out-of-state students, they tend not to meet full demonstrated need for out-of-state students, in contrast to their policy for in-state students. As an out-of-state applicant, it's important to note that UC schools add a substantial nonresident supplemental tuition fee on top of the regular tuition.

A helpful strategy could be to search for external scholarships that you can apply towards tuition at any university. These are offered by organizations outside of UC and can be a great way to supplement your tuition costs regardless of what school you end up choosing. Appily is a resourceful platform you could use to start your search.

Ensure you check the financial aid website of each UC campus where you are applying to learn more about the specific scholarships available and the eligibility criteria.
