Finding College Scholarships for Current Students?

Can anyone recommend places to look for college scholarships that are available to students already in college? It feels like there are plenty for incoming freshmen, but not as much for us. Any advice would be great!

Absolutely! While many scholarships cater to incoming freshmen, there are still plenty of opportunities for current college students.

1. Your School’s Financial Aid Office: Your most valuable resource will always be your college's Financial Aid Office. They can provide information about scholarships specific to your institution, some of which may be awarded on the basis of merit, financial need, specific studies, or activities.

2. Departmental Scholarships: Check with your academic department. Many departments have scholarships for students majoring in their field. For instance, the finance department might have scholarships specific to finance majors.

3. Professional Associations: If you've decided on a career path, look at professional associations within that field. Many associations offer scholarships to aspiring professionals as a way to give back to their industry.

4. Online Portals: There are a number of online scholarship portals that you can use to broaden your scholarship search. These include Fastweb, Scholarships.com, and Appily (formerly known as Cappex). Remember, when using these portals you should never have to pay to find scholarships or to apply to them.

5. Community and Non-Profit Organizations: Many community and non-profit organizations offer scholarships to local students. For example, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club are known to fund scholarships.

The key to securing scholarships is persistence and being detailed-oriented in your search. Deadlines and requirements can vary widely, so it's important to keep track of these details. Best of luck in your search!
