Options for college scholarships in Pennsylvania?

I'm exploring my college options in Pennsylvania and curious about scholarships offered in the state. Does anyone have tips on where to find good resources or databases for Pennsylvania-specific scholarships?

Absolutely, when looking for Pennsylvania-specific scholarships, there are several avenues to consider.

Firstly, check with the financial aid offices at the colleges you're interested in. They can be a great resource for institutional scholarships and might be able to guide you towards external scholarships you qualify for too.

Some state-specific scholarships for Pennsylvania students to check out are the Pennsylvania State Grant, the Pennsylvania Targeted Industry Program (PA-TIP), which provides awards to students enrolled in programs of study in the areas of energy, advanced materials and diversified manufacturing, agriculture or food production, and the FEAA Richard L. Taylor Flight Training Scholarship for those interested in aviation.

Also, consider checking the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) which is a resource for scholarships that are available mainly to Pennsylvania residents.

Lastly, I’d recommend exploring databases like Appily, Fastweb, and Scholarship.com, which let you filter scholarships by location/residency requirements.

One example I can provide is that each year, the Philadelphia Foundation awards more than 200 scholarships from funds we manage.

Remember to apply early and often, as there are many scholarship opportunities out there. It can be a time-consuming process, but the reward can be significant in reducing college costs. Good luck!
