How Can I Find Minority Scholarships as a College Senior?

I'm currently a college senior and wondering if there are specific minority scholarships I should be applying for right now. Any tips on where to find the best opportunities? I'm looking to ease the financial burden before I graduate.

While it's often a bit tougher to find scholarships as a current college student, there are still numerous opportunities available. Start by visiting your school's financial aid office. They can often direct you to scholarships that are specifically for students at your school, including those aimed at minority students.

Next, professional organizations and nonprofits related to your course of study can be a great resource. For example, the National Society of Black Engineers offers scholarships for Black engineering students. Also, some organizations offer scholarships specifically for college seniors about to enter the workforce.

Websites like Appily, Fastweb, and Chegg Scholarships can also be a useful tool in your search. Simply input information about yourself, including your year in school, race/ethnicity, and major, and these platforms will provide you a list of applicable scholarships. It's a bit of a shotgun approach, but it can bring scholarships to your attention that you wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Lastly, remember to fill out the FAFSA each year. This not only provides you access to federal aid, but many institutional and private scholarships require the FAFSA for consideration.

Just be aware that scholarship hunting takes time and requires organization. Keep track of deadlines, requirements, and whether you've submitted an application yet or not. With perseverance and planning, you should be able to find some additional sources of funding for your final year of college. Good luck!
