Do Eagle Scouts get college scholarships?

I'm an Eagle Scout and I'm wondering if there are any college scholarships available for scouts like me. Does anyone know where to start looking or have experience with this?

Absolutely! In fact, being an Eagle Scout can open up a wealth of scholarship opportunities. Institutions recognize the dedication, leadership, and character development associated with achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and many offer scholarships specifically for Eagle Scouts.

For instance, the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) offers several scholarships, some of which are available only for Eagle Scouts. These include the NESA Academic Scholarship and the NESA Merit Scholarship. The academic scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded based on school and Scouting participation, academic performance, and financial need. Merit scholarships, on the other hand, are based on school and Scouting participation and community service.

Additionally, many colleges and local organizations across the country reward the achievement of Eagle Scout with specific scholarships. It's also worth checking if local Boy Scout councils offer any scholarships.

A quick tip would be to contact your prospective college's financial aid office or scouting alumni group if they have one, to inquire about any scholarships available that aren't widely advertised.

Finally, because the skills you've developed as an Eagle Scout align well with other scholarships not explicitly for Eagle Scouts, these achievements can make you a strong candidate for other scholarships as well. You might find yourself eligible for scholarships that seek applicants with strong leadership skills, community service experience, or a demonstrated commitment to personal development.

Good luck with your scholarship search!
