Are there specific AZ scholarships for college students?

I'm from Arizona and looking for scholarships that are specifically for students from the state. Are there any AZ scholarships I should be aware of when planning for college costs?

Absolutely, there are many scholarships available specifically for students from Arizona. Here are a few examples:

1. The Arizona Business and Professional Women's Foundation Scholarship promotes the advancement of Arizona's working women through scholarships issues on a competitive basis.

2. The Flinn Scholarship is a very prestigious scholarship program that provides a comprehensive educational package that includes tuition at one of Arizona’s public universities, funding for study abroad, and mentorship opportunities.

3. The Arizona Community Foundation offers a large number of scholarships that vary in eligibility and award amount.

4. The Dorrance Scholarship Programs offer an annual award for continuing students up to a maximum of four years to Arizona public university students.

5. The Arizona Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (AzLEAP) provides need-based grants to encourage access to education beyond high school.

You should definitely look into these options and see if they are a good fit for you, but keep in mind that many of these scholarships will require you to meet certain eligibility criteria. If you find that these scholarships are not right for you, there are also plenty of national scholarships that you can apply to no matter what state you live in.

It's also important to remember that scholarships are not the only form of financial aid available. There are also need-based and merit-based grants, work-study programs, and student loans. Be sure to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see which types of federal aid you qualify for. Do this as early as you can, as some forms of aid are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The new FAFSA form becomes available each year on October 1.

This list does not include every scholarship available to Arizona students - there are likely many more opportunities depending on your unique circumstances. For instance, there might be scholarships specific to your college or intended major. To find more scholarships, you can use Appily, or talk to your school counselor about local scholarships. It might also be worthwhile to check in with the financial aid offices at the Arizona colleges you're considering!
