Advice on Reconsideration Letter for College Scholarship?

Has anyone had success with writing a reconsideration letter for a college scholarship? I'm thinking about it since I was initially rejected. Any tips on what to mention or how to structure the letter?

I think your approach should be logical and courteous. Begin by addressing the letter to the appropriate person or department. This could be the financial aid office or the scholarship committee, depending on your college/university.

Secondly, express gratitude for their consideration of your earlier scholarship application. Recognize their time and consideration and, if possible, mention something positive about your relationship with the college/university.

The heart of your letter should then provide clear reasons to reconsider your scholarship. It might be new achievements, changes in your financial circumstances, or details of the cost of education you might have previously overlooked. Include any updates that show your continued commitment to your studies and the college, such as recent academic accomplishments or new leadership roles. Be specific and provide supporting details.

End your letter by thanking them in advance for their time and consideration. Keep your tone concise, sincere and respectful throughout the entire letter.

An example of the structure could be:

1. Salutation and Expression of Gratitude

2. Why You're Writing the Letter

3. Explanation and Specific Details

4. Concluding Statement and Expression of Thanks

Please remember to respect the choice of the scholarship committee, even if the reconsideration is not successful. Hope this advice helps!
