Presidential College Scholarships: Are Green Card Holders Eligible?

I have a Green Card and EAD status. Does anyone know if this qualifies me for presidential scholarships at colleges? Trying to figure out if I should apply or look for other opportunities.

If you are a Green Card holder, you are considered a permanent resident in the United States, not an international student. This means that you are generally eligible for the same scholarships as U.S. citizens, including Presidential Scholarships at various colleges, assuming you meet the other criteria for those awards.

Do remember that eligibility can vary among individual institutions due to differing policies and criteria. These scholarships often have academic performance standards or require application materials like essays or letters of recommendation. Best thing to do would be to reach out to the financial aid office or admissions office of the colleges you're interested in to confirm their policies and your eligibility.

Also, as a Green Card holder, you should be eligible to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can grant you access to federal, state, and school financial aid - from grants and scholarships to work-study funds and loans.

It's great that you're proactively looking at scholarship opportunities! Best of luck to you in your applications.
