Where can I find scholarship information for the College of Charleston?

I'm considering applying to the College of Charleston and want to know more about the scholarship options they offer. Are there unique scholarships available for incoming students that I should be aware of?

The College of Charleston offers a range of scholarships for incoming students, so your interest in exploring these funding opportunities is well directed.

Merit Scholarships are automatically considered when you apply for admission, and they are based on your academic achievements. This includes scholarships like the Presidential Scholarship, which is awarded to high achieving out-of-state students.

Additionally, the Charleston Merit Awards are given out based on GPA and standardized test scores. Remember though, all merit scholarship consideration requires the submission of your application materials by December 1.

There's also the Spectra Program, a six-week summer transition program for select South Carolina residents. Participants in this program receive a scholarship automatically.

Institutionally-affiliated scholarships like the 1824 Scholarship are also available. For these types of scholarships, you would need to complete an additional application, which can usually be accessed through the financial aid and scholarships section of the College of Charleston's official website.

You also have the option of participating in the Honors College, as it offers many more scholarship opportunities. These are competitive and not all Honors College students receive scholarships, but some examples include the highly sought-after William Aiken Fellows program, and the Swanson Scholars program. Note that Honors College scholarships typically require an additional application.

Lastly, consider looking into department-specific scholarships. Many individual departments have their own scholarships for students who show high potential or interest in a particular field of study, so it might be worthwhile to check within your desired major.

Just one point to remember is that scholarship deadlines typically vary, so always verify the details and deadlines from the college's official website or the financial aid office. It also wouldn't hurt to check Appily, as they often update scholarships offered at various colleges, including College of Charleston. Sift through all opportunities thoroughly, find some that seem like a good fit, and make sure to apply on time. Good luck!
