Available scholarships for college sophomores?

As a rising sophomore in college, I'm interested in finding additional scholarship money. Are there any scholarships aimed specifically at college sophomores that I could apply for?

Absolutely, there are numerous scholarships available for sophomores in college, so it's fantastic you're on the search! While it's hard to pinpoint exact scholarships without additional information about you, I'll provide some general advice.

One opportunity might be the Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship from NOAA. This scholarship provides support to students pursuing fields related to oceanic and atmospheric science, research, or technology. Applicants must be U.S. citizens currently enrolled or accepted as a full-time 2nd year student in an accredited college or university.

Another interesting grant comes from the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA) Minorities in Government Finance Scholarship. This scholarship is for upper division undergraduate students (i.e., students who have completed their sophomore year) who are pursuing careers in government finance.

If you qualify, the Boren Scholarship is another solid choice. This program awards up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. national security interests. The applicant must be focusing on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study critical to U.S. national security interests.

Also consider the Appily Scholarship Search Tool's section for college sophomores. There, you should find a wide variety of scholarships listed, sorted by deadline and other criteria.

These are a few examples and it's far from an exhaustive list. Many universities also offer scholarships and grants specific to sophomore students, so check out any opportunities that might be available through your own school's financial aid office. Remember, scholarships can be very competitive, but every little bit helps, so apply to as many as possible that fit your profile!
