Scholarships for Dependents of 100% Disabled Veterans

Does anyone know about specific scholarships available for students whose parents are 100% disabled veterans? I'm trying to plan my college budget and any help would be appreciated! I want to make sure I’m not missing any options.

I can certainly help with that. There are actually quite a few scholarships aimed specifically at dependents of disabled veterans. Here are a few you might consider:

1. The Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-connected condition.

2. The Fry Scholarship is available to children of service members who died in the line of duty after September 10, 2001. Eligible students can receive up to 36 months of benefits.

3. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization also provides a Jesse Brown Scholarship for voluntary service. Although this isn't specifically for dependents of disabled veterans, it's potentially a great opportunity if you have volunteered for veteran-related causes.

4. Certain states also have their own scholarship programs for dependents of 100% disabled veterans. For instance, California offers a College Tuition Fee Waiver for Veteran Dependents.

Remember that scholarships aren't the only form of financial aid available to you. Subsidized loans, work-study programs, and even grants can help offset the cost of your college tuition.

Lastly, make sure to complete your FAFSA to determine your eligibility for state and federal aid. The Student Aid Index (SAI), which replaced the old Expected Family Contribution (EFC) system, can offer financial aid opportunities based on your financial situation.

Best of luck as you work through the financial planning of your college education! Remember that every little bit helps.
