What are some good scholarships for college that I should look into?

I'm a high school junior starting to think about financing college. Does anyone have recommendations for good scholarships I could apply for, even if they're niche?

Absolutely, there are a wide range of scholarships out there, many tailored to specific fields of study, experiences, or backgrounds.

The Coca-Cola Scholarship is one highly-competitive program that awards a total of $20,000 to 150 students nationally.

For students planning to major in STEM fields, the National Science Foundation's NSF Scholarship for Service (SFS) offers significant support in exchange for a commitment to work in cybersecurity for a government entity.

If you have engaged in substantial community service, consider the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards which grant up to $5,000 for volunteer work.

For writers and artists, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards offer many different scholarships across various categories.

If you are of Hispanic heritage, the Hispanic Heritage Foundation's Youth Awards provides educational grants in different categories based on your interests.

For students who have faced significant barriers to achieving their educational goals, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program provides significant financial support.

Also check out local scholarships from community organizations, businesses, or high school-specific scholarships. These can often be easier to obtain due to the smaller applicant pool.

Lastly, don't forget to look at the scholarships offered directly by the universities you are applying to. Most universities have substantial merit-based scholarships for which all applicants are considered.

Rather than just applying to every scholarship out there, prioritize those that match your skills and interests best. This approach can be more time-effective and increase your chances of winning. Remember, applying to scholarships takes a lot of time and effort, so budget your time accordingly!

Good luck in your scholarship hunt!
