Are there scholarships for children with autism for college?

My sibling has autism and is planning to go to college. We're looking for any scholarships that might be specifically for students with autism. Does anyone have any recommendations or know where we could search for these?

Yes, there are various scholarships intended to support students with autism pursuing higher education.

For instance, the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) offers the Schwallie Family Scholarship Program, which grants awards specifically to students attending two-year, four-year, or trade/vocational schools. There's also the Rise Scholarship Foundation which provides several awards annually to students with ASD.

The Autism Society of America sometimes partners with various organizations to grant scholarships designed for students with autism.

Remember, many scholarships are not nationwide but are offered at the state or local level, so it's good to check with local autism advocacy groups, community foundations, and your college's financial aid office about potential scholarships available in your region.

Finally, we shouldn’t forget about general scholarships for students with disabilities. For example, the Anne Ford Scholarship and the Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship both are geared towards students with learning disabilities, which can include ASD.

It's also recommended to use apps like Appily that can help you find various scholarships that your sibling may be eligible for. Be thorough in your search, apply to as many as possible, and remember every bit helps!

Best of luck to your sibling in their scholarship search and future college endeavors!
