How do I apply to International Christian University?

I'm interested in applying to International Christian University. Can anyone share their experience with the application process? Are there specific things I should know about the university's requirements, especially as an international student?

Absolutely, I'm glad you're interested in International Christian University (ICU) as it's a globally recognized institution known for its diverse student body and rigorous liberal arts education. As an international university, they have a well-defined system to accommodate students from various parts of the world.

ICU offers two methods of application: General Selection and Admissions Office Selection. For international students, the Admissions Office Selection might be more applicable as it's more flexible, and it evaluates your qualifications from various perspectives.

The first step will be to make an account on the online application system on ICU's website to track your application process.

One of the important requirements will be proof of academic ability, which could take several forms. If you've completed (or are expected to complete) a 12-year standard education curriculum in a country other than Japan, you can fulfill this requirement. You can also meet this requirement by submitting your SAT, ACT, or IB (International Baccalaureate) scores.

Additionally, you need to provide a proof of English proficiency. ICU accepts TOEFL iBT, TOEFL PBT, IELTS (Academic Module), TOEIC L&R, Cambridge English, PTE Academic, and Duolingo English Test.

As for essays, ICU requires multiple essays including a Statement of Purpose in which you articulate your academic interests and goals. There's also a short essay component where you are given a few prompts to choose from. These essays give the admissions committee an understanding of you as a person - your motivations, character, and how well you'd fit into ICU's educational environment. It's critical to demonstrate your passion, curiosity, and reflections about your past experiences and future goals. It's advised not to repeat information found elsewhere in your application.

Submitting letters of recommendation is optional; however, one letter of recommendation is required if you apply for a scholarship.

Finally, after reviewing all applications, ICU conducts interviews as the last step. These can be face-to-face or online depending on your location.

The application fee might vary for different categories of applicants, so it would be good to verify it based on your specific situation.

This process might seem intimidating at first glance but take it step-by-step and stay organized. Best of luck with your application! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions about the process.
