Does Idaho offer strong programs in engineering?

I'm a high school junior considering engineering as a major, and I'm curious about the engineering programs available in Idaho. Are there reputable schools there for an aspiring engineer? Would love to hear about any personal experiences or insights!

In Idaho, there are definitely some engineering programs that are well-regarded. One of the most notable is offered at Boise State University, which has a College of Engineering that offers a range of programs like Civil Engineering, Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering, among others.

The College of Engineering at the University of Idaho is another good choice. It's known for providing a practical, hands-on education that prepares students well for the workforce or further study. The university has programs ranging from Chemical Engineering to Computer Science, and even offers a "Grand Challenge Scholars Program" aimed at solving some of the most pressing issues in engineering.

For something a bit smaller, Idaho State University's College of Science and Engineering may be a fit. They offer programs in Civil, Mechanical, and Nuclear Engineering, and encourage practical application through internships and co-op programs.

Keep in mind, it's important to visit campuses if possible, or at least do some in-depth research, to see if the school's atmosphere, class size, location, available extracurricular, etc., fit your preferences. Admission statistics, graduation rates, and placement rates in engineering jobs or grad programs can also be helpful in assessing the program.

Many students say that finding the right fit - both academically and personally - makes all the difference in their college experience. So, take some time to explore these programs and see which one speaks to you most.
