Lacrosse Scholarships for College in California

I play lacrosse and am looking at colleges in California. Do you know of any schools that offer scholarships specifically for lacrosse players? I'm curious about both athletic and academic opportunities in Cali.

Yes, absolutely, many colleges in California offer lacrosse scholarships! These scholarships are often athletic-based and awarded through the school's athletic department. Remember that NCAA Division I and Division II schools are generally the ones that offer athletic scholarships, Division III institutions cannot, and NAIA schools have different rules.

Some California universities that have Division I or II lacrosse programs include the University of Southern California (USC), Stanford University, and Fresno State. All of these schools have the potential to offer athletic scholarships for their lacrosse teams.

USC has both a Women's and Men's lacrosse team and they've been known to offer scholarships. Stanford University has a Women's lacrosse team, and they're also likely to offer scholarships to top recruits. Fresno State has a Women's lacrosse team and has been known to support their athletes financially as well.

As for academic scholarships, these are separate from athletic scholarships and are awarded based on the academic merit of the student. Most universities, including those mentioned earlier, will have a range of academic scholarships available. For these scholarships, awards are usually based on a combination of factors such as GPA, class rank, standardized test scores, and personal essays.

To explore these opportunities, it's best to visit the university's financial aid or scholarship page on their website. Remember, getting an athletic scholarship usually starts with your high school coach reaching out to college coaches or recruiters and sharing your highlight reels or game footage. It's also worth ringing up the colleges you're interested in directly to ask around.

Don't limit your search to just California, as many out-of-state universities also offer lucrative lacrosse scholarships. You might find a perfect match in terms of both athletic and academic opportunities! I hope your college search goes well, keep on hustling on the field and in the classroom!
