Looking for the best criminology schools: Any advice?

I'm really interested in criminology and trying to find the best schools for it. Whether they're specifically known for criminology or have strong programs in the field, any suggestions would be appreciated!

There are many universities with strong criminology programs, each with a unique focus, so you'll want to define what aspects of criminology are most interesting to you as well. For example, some programs might emphasize law and policy, while others might focus more on scientific research or the social aspects of crime.

The University of Maryland, College Park, for instance, has a reputable program that highly ranks in the U.S. and provides students with a blend of criminal justice themes and sociology, which imparts comprehensive knowledge to students.

The State University of New York at Albany is also touted for its criminology program in which students study a broad curriculum of criminal justice systems, statistical methods, and principles of investigation.

John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City is another institution to consider, as it is one of the few colleges in the U.S. entirely devoted to criminal justice and forensic science.

Pennsylvania State University-University Park offers a major in criminology, with courses in crime control policies, and policing society, among others. This program helps students understand crime from a sociological perspective.

In the West, the University of California, Irvine stands out with strong research opportunities and a wealth of faculty expertise in things like criminology, law, and society.

These are only a few examples, and there are many other excellent criminology programs out there. To find the best fit for you, consider factors like track record, faculty expertise, course offerings, research opportunities, internships, and location.
