What should I aim for in a 9th grade PSAT?

Hi everyone! So, I'm a freshman and I'm planning on taking the PSAT this year. I have no idea what a good score would be for a 9th grader. Can anyone give me an idea of the expected score range for someone at my grade level? Thanks!

Hey there! It's nice to see that you're getting a head start by taking the PSAT in 9th grade. Since the PSAT is typically geared toward 10th and 11th grade students, it's expected for 9th graders to have slightly lower scores. The test uses a scale of 320 to 1520.

For 9th graders, a good benchmark is to score above the 50th percentile for their grade level. Last time I checked, the average score on the PSAT for 9th graders was around 860-900, so you can aim to score around or above that range as a starting point. As you progress through high school and take the test in 10th and 11th grade, you'll have a better understanding of areas to improve, and your scores should ideally increase.

Remember not to stress too much about your 9th grade PSAT score, as it's mostly a diagnostic tool to help you identify areas to focus on for improvement. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
