How to get a Vanderbilt University application fee waiver for international students?

I'm interested in applying to Vanderbilt University but heard application fees might be high. Is there a way to get a fee waiver for international students? Any advice on the process would be awesome!

Applying to college can certainly have a lot of associated costs, so seeking methods to cut down on these expenses is more than sensible. At Vanderbilt, the application fee is $50, but you're right that fee waivers are available.

One possible route to obtain a fee waiver is through the Common Application, if that's the application platform you intended to use. When you fill out your Common App profile, there will be a set of questions that constitute a "fee waiver" request. These questions ascertain your eligibility based on factors such as family income, eligibility for Free/Reduced Lunch, or enrollment in a program that aids students from low-income families (such as TRIO or Upward Bound).

For international students, fee waiver eligibility may often hinge on demonstrating that the application fee presents a financial hardship given their family circumstances. Do note that while the Common App fee waiver request is largely geared towards US applicants in its language, international students can still apply and explain their financial circumstances.

If you're using the Coalition Application, a similar process is available. There's a section where you can request a fee waiver based on financial need.

One more important thing: you can reach out directly to Vanderbilt's admissions office. Explain your situation in detail and inquire about the possibility of obtaining a fee waiver. They're there to help and may be able to provide assistance that's more specific to your situation!

No matter your chosen method, it's always recommended to start the application process early. This gives you plenty of time to figure out this sort of detail well in advance of any deadlines. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your applications!
