Should you take the ACT with writing?

I was wondering if it's necessary to take the ACT with writing anymore. Do many colleges still require or recommend it? Is it worth the extra time and effort? I could use some input from people who already went through the process!

As far as I'm aware, the number of colleges requiring the ACT with writing has decreased steadily over the years, with only a small number of schools still considering it. Most colleges now view the ACT Writing section as optional and don't require it for admission.

That being said, it might be a good idea to research the specific requirements for the colleges you're applying to. If a college you're interested in strongly recommends or requires it, you'll want to make sure you have that component covered to avoid any potential issues with your application.

Ultimately, whether or not to take the ACT with writing depends on your individual situation, the schools you're targeting, and your confidence in your writing abilities. It is an additional time commitment, so you'll need to weigh the pros and cons carefully. If you feel it'll showcase your strengths and you have the time, it could be worth considering!
