What options are available at community colleges in Utah?

I'm thinking about staying close to home after high school and was wondering what community colleges in Utah are viable choices. Can anyone share insights on their programs or experiences?

There are a handful of great community colleges available in Utah that offer a variety of programs to suit a range of interests.

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is one of the biggest and has multiple campuses across Salt Lake County. SLCC offers a comprehensive range of programs including Business, Health Sciences, Liberal Arts, Engineering, and more. You can start a 4-year degree here at a lower cost and then transfer to a 4-year university to complete the remaining years.

Another popular choice is Snow College, which is renowned particularly for its Associate of Science (AS) and Associate of Arts (AA) transfer degrees. They also offer vocational and technical training across a broad range of subjects. With a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1, they pride themselves on small class sizes and personalized attention.

Weber State University also has an extensive selection of associate degree programs, through their Ogden-Weber Technical College. From Health Professions to Applied Science and Technology, there's a wide selection. They pride themselves on the fact that more than 50% of their classes have fewer than 20 students.

Lastly, there's Dixie State University located in St. George, which also offers a wide range of associate degrees. Particularly renowned for its Health Sciences offerings, this school could be a good fit if you're considering a healthcare career.

Before making your choice, take your career goals into account and reach out to academic advisors at these colleges who can guide the best programs for you. And remember, community college can be a great pathway to a 4-year degree if that's something you're interested in for the future.
