UMKC is a diverse and vibrant environment. Its urban location plays a big role in shaping its culture, as students have access not only to activities on campus but in the city itself. There are more than 200 student organizations available, including Greek life, athletics, as well as cultural and academic clubs. This gives a multitude of opportunities to interact, learn, and lead among peers.
Academically, UMKC has an excellent reputation in several fields such as health sciences (e.g., nursing, dentistry, pharmacy) and business. That means students often have demanding academic schedules, but the college community is supportive and collaborative. There are plenty of tutoring services and academic support programs available, helping students to strike a healthy balance between their studies and social life.
In terms of social life, students are known to take advantage of Kansas City's cultural offerings.
