Historically Black Colleges in Maryland - Any Recommendations?

I'm a junior interested in finding a historically black college in Maryland that has a strong science program. Does anyone have recommendations or personal experiences they can share to help me make an informed decision?

One historically black college in Maryland renowned for its strong science program is Morgan State University. The School of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences offers a range of degrees in biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and mathematics. The faculty is highly reputed and the school boasts impressive facilities for conducting research. Morgan State University's research endowment is among the highest for HBCUs.

While personal experience is subjective, many students comment on the university's committed faculty and focus on student success. Also noted is the sense of community on campus and the opportunities for leadership and service.

Another option would be Bowie State University, which offers programs in areas such as natural sciences, biology, and computer technology. While it may not be as large as Morgan State, Bowie State maintains excellent student-faculty relationships and offers ample research opportunities.

It's always a good idea to visit these campuses (if you can), or at least explore their websites to see which school's programs and campus culture might be a better fit for you. Check out the specific syllabi of the programs you're interested in and possibly reach out to current students or faculty for additional information.

Try to consider what opportunities there are for internships, research, and work placement post-graduation as well. A strong science program should offer not only rigorous coursework but also opportunities for hands-on experience, which will be invaluable when you start applying for jobs or graduate study.
