What is UIC Chicago's acceptance rate like?

I'm thinking about applying to UIC Chicago and want to understand how competitive it is. Does anyone know what the current acceptance rate is or has insight into the admissions process?

As per the latest data, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) has an acceptance rate of around 79%. This suggests that UIC is moderately selective.

The admission process at UIC evaluates your entire academic record, looking at the rigor of your high school coursework, your grades, and standardized test scores if submitted (though it is currently test-optional). Being a public university, UIC also gives some preference to in-state students, although out-of-state and international students are certainly welcome to apply.

UIC values a strong academic foundation, so ensure that your high school curriculum includes a good number of rigorous courses, such as Honors or AP classes if they are available to you. The admissions however also look holistically at applications, meaning they also take into account your extracurricular activities, leadership roles, work experience, and your responses on the application essay.

So while UIC Chicago isn't as selective as some other universities, it's still important to put effort into your application to demonstrate your interest and fit with the school. The school offers over 80 undergraduate programs, so be sure to research those carefully and indicate in your application how you see yourself fitting into the UIC academic community. Good luck!
