Colleges known for great photography programs?

Photography is my passion, and I want to find a college that really excels in it. Does anyone know which colleges are considered the best for photography? I'm hoping to find a program with strong faculty and facilities.

Sure, I can certainly help you with that. Some excellent colleges renowned for their photography programs are:

- Rhode Island School of Design (RISD): This is regarded as one of the best fine arts schools in the country and offers a well-regarded BFA in Photography. Its program emphasizes both technical and conceptual aspects of the medium and has an extensive network of alumni working in the field.

- Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT): Known for their cutting-edge imaging science research, RIT's photography program is highly regarded. Its facilities are top-notch, with an incredible array of darkrooms, digital labs, and studios.

- California Institute of the Arts (CalArts): This school's program focusses on the creative use of photography and provides a BFA degree in photography and media. The faculty are often working professionals in the industry, providing real-world experience and connections.

- Yale University: Yale's photography program is a part of its esteemed School of Art, and offers an MFA in photography. The program is highly competitive, but offers a wide range of resources, including guest lectures from some of the top professionals in the field.

- The University of New Mexico: UNM has a high-rated photography program. They have excellent faculty, good facilities, and offer a BA, BFA, MA, MFA as well as an online BA. It may be especially appealing if you're interested in photographing the beautiful desert Southwest.

Each of these programs has a different focus and specialty, so I suggest researching each further and maybe contacting current students or faculty to understand better which program would best support your individual photography interests.
