What scholarships do military children qualify for?

As a military kid, I've heard there are specific scholarships available to us. Does anyone know which ones I should look into and if there's any special eligibility criteria I need to meet?

Yes, there are definitely scholarships designed specifically for military children! Here are a few national scholarships you may want to consider:

1. Scholarships for Military Children Program: Sponsored by the Defense Commissary Agency, this scholarship awards $2,000 to selected recipients. You must be a dependent, unmarried child (under age 23) of a military member in active duty, reserve/guard, or retired, or a survivor of a military member who died while on active duty, or survivor of a retiree.

2. AMVETS National Scholarship Program: This offers a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 awarded annually over four years) to children/grandchildren of Veterans, Active Duty, Guard/Reserves who are currently High School seniors.

3. Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship: Available to the dependents of recipients of the Purple Heart medal, including those received posthumously.

4. Heroes' Legacy Scholarships: For children of fallen or disabled service members, this scholarship amount varies annually.

Remember, scholarship eligibility can often be very specific, so these are just a few examples and there are many others out there. Always make sure you meet the required criteria before you invest time in applying. Also note that scholarships often have deadlines in the early part of the year (Jan-April), so it’s important to keep on top of those dates. Good luck with your scholarship search!
