Brown University BS-MD experience?

Hey, I'm really interested in Brown's BS-MD program and would love to hear about the experiences from any current or former students. Can you tell me more about the program's structure, the faculty, and the learning opportunities that it offers?

Hey there! I'm not in the BS-MD program at Brown myself, but I have some friends who are. From what they've shared, the program offers a unique and highly collaborative environment for aspiring doctors.

In terms of structure, students first complete their undergraduate degree in four years, usually with a heavy focus on sciences, and then transition to the Warren Alpert Medical School for the next four years. This accelerated timeline allows for dedicated and focused learning in both undergraduate and medical school education.

The faculty in this program are well-regarded, and many are engaged in groundbreaking research. My friends have highlighted how accessible and supportive the professors are in and out of the classroom. Additionally, there's a close-knit community among the cohort, which encourages collaboration and support among peers.

As for learning opportunities, besides the strong curriculum, students can engage in research, both on the main campus and at the medical school. Another exciting aspect of Brown's program is the ample opportunity for clinical experiences. Students can gain hands-on experience to understand better how medicine is practiced and develop connections with physicians in various fields.
