Scholarships for female chemistry majors available?

I'm planning to major in chemistry and I've heard there are scholarships specifically for female students in this field. Can anyone point me in the right direction or know of any specific ones I should apply for?

There are indeed several scholarships designated for female students pursuing studies in chemistry. Note, some awards have extra requirements like being from an underrepresented group in the STEM field, having a certain GPA, etc.

1. The American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program is one such scholarship. ACS awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who are interested in pursuing a career in chemistry or chemistry-related fields.

2. The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) Kirsten R. Lorentzen Award is an excellent opportunity for college sophomores and juniors studying physics, including space physics and geophysics, or geoscience.

3. The Priscilla Carney Jones Scholarship provides financial aid to female chemistry majors. To be eligible, applicants should show strong academic and scientific potential.

4. Society of Women Engineers (SWE) provides scholarships to women pursuing accredited bachelor or graduate degree programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and computer science. Even though it's more focused on engineering, there may be opportunities for women in chemistry as chemistry is a vital part of many engineering disciplines.

Lastly, the National Science Foundation's (NSF) scholarships can also be a good source. They may not be only for females or chemistry majors, but you might find something that fits your profile well under this organization.

Remember to check the eligibility criteria carefully for each opportunity, as some scholarships may be limited to specific locations, GPAs, or career goals. Afterward, mark the application deadlines on your calendar and plan out your application process, so you don't miss out.

Remember, you'll do best to diversify your scholarship search. In addition to STEM-focused scholarships, also consider scholarships offered by your future college, scholarships within your community, and scholarships based on other aspects of your identity or achievements. Make the most of resources like Appily to discover scholarships matched to you. It might require a lot of applications, but remember, every bit of financial aid can be a great help!
