Hi everyone, my PSAT score wasn't as high as I wanted it to be. I want to know if this will negatively impact my college application process or if colleges even consider PSAT scores. Any info would help!
Don't stress too much about your PSAT score. Colleges don't consider PSAT scores in their admissions process. The PSAT is mainly meant to help you figure out areas that you can improve in before taking the actual SAT. While your performance on the PSAT can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship program, which is a nice gold star to have on your college application, there are plenty of other accolades out there to prove your intellectual abilities, so not being named a National Merit Semifinalist is nothing to worry about.
At this stage, rather than beating yourself up about your PSAT score, focus on preparing for the SAT, which colleges do directly consider. Use the results from your PSAT to identify concepts you need to work on, and invest your time and energy into studying them in more depth, to ensure your SAT score is what you want.
Good luck with your college applications!
