Tips for Finding College Scholarships Online?

I'm starting to think about my college plans and want to know the best ways to search for scholarships using the internet. Any tips or platforms that have worked for you? I want to make sure I explore all my options!

There are definitely plenty of resources online for scholarship hunting! Here are some steps to help you navigate this process:

1. Start with a Wide Net: There are many websites that aggregate a huge number of scholarships and allow you to apply filters such as your intended major, cultural background, and other unique circumstances.

2. Specific Searches to Your Situation: If you’re part of a specific demographic or group, certain organizations may offer specialized scholarships. For example, there are scholarships for first-generation college students, underrepresented minorities, and even for those with specific talents or interests.

3. Use Multiple Search Engines: Different search engines will give you access to different scholarships, so I really suggest exploring multiple platforms. As for which ones to use, the new Appily (previously known as Cappex), Fastweb and Scholarships.com have useful search tools and a large variety of scholarships.

4. Check with Your Future College: Many universities offer scholarships or grants based on need or merit. Be sure to explore your intended college's financial aid office website for information about what scholarships they offer.

5. Local Opportunities: High school counselors often have insider knowledge about scholarships that are offered on a local level. These are worth looking into as they generally have less competition.

6. Organize Your Applications: Create an Excel or Google Sheets document where you track what scholarships you’ve applied for, their respective deadlines, and the status of your application.

7. Modify your Essays: Many scholarships ask similar questions in their applications. Save your essays and modify them to fit future prompts rather than starting each essay from scratch.

Keep in mind, the more scholarships you apply for, the more opportunities you have to secure funding. Good luck with your scholarship hunting!
