What's the student population like at Baylor?

I'm trying to get a feel for the size and diversity of Baylor University. How big is Baylor's student population, and does it really affect the campus culture and vibe? Any current or past students willing to share their experiences?

Baylor University is a fairly large private school located in Waco, Texas. As of the most recent data available, the university has a total undergraduate enrollment of over 14,000 students. When factoring in the graduate and professional students, the total student population sits over 18,000.

Regarding diversity, Baylor has made efforts to increase the presence of various groups on campus. While the majority of students at Baylor are still white, the percentage of students who identify as Hispanic, Asian, Black, and other ethnic backgrounds continues to increase gradually over the years.

The size and diversity of Baylor's student body definitely influence the campus culture. More students mean more clubs and organizations, widening the variety of experiences and interests that are represented on campus. This allows almost any student to find a community that they identify with and cater to their interests.

From many students' perspective, Baylor's size strikes a balance between the intimate, individual attention of a smaller college and the resources and opportunities of a larger institution. Classes can be large or small depending on your major and year, ranging typically from 20 to 50 students in a class. This can result in a sense of community and belonging, but also offers the resources and opportunities typical of larger institutions.

As for diversity, while there is room for improvement, many students appreciate the increasing representation of different ethnicities and cultures. This diversity can lead to enriching discussions in the classroom, broadening of perspectives, and invaluable multicultural experiences. It's also important to keep in mind that Baylor is a Christian institution, and that context creates a unique campus culture where faith is often integrated into campus life, academic programs, and student activities.

Of course, everyone's experiences with the student body and campus culture will be subjective and therefore vary, but I hope this gives you a somewhat comprehensive glimpse into life at Baylor.
