Which colleges specialize in music programs?

I'm really passionate about music and considering pursuing it in college. Could anyone recommend some top colleges of music? I've read about places like Berklee and Juilliard, but I'd love to hear about other options too.

There are many esteemed colleges across the U.S. offering excellent music programs, so rest assured, you have plenty of options besides Berklee and Juilliard! A few to consider are:

1. The University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music: Famous for its programs in popular music, composition, and film scoring. It offers a unique "Dual Degree" program which allows you to pursue a music-related degree along with another degree outside the music school.

2. Curtis Institute of Music: Located in Philadelphia, Curtis is one of the most exclusive colleges of music in the world, with a very low admission rate. It offers programs in performance, composition, conducting, and more.

3. Eastman School of Music: Part of the University of Rochester, Eastman provides a robust liberal arts education alongside an intensive music program. They have a particular strength in jazz studies and music theory.

4. Indiana University Jacobs School of Music: Known for its orchestral conducting, opera, and music education programs. Their campus in Bloomington houses more than 1,100 performances a year, with state-of-the-art facilities.

5. The New England Conservatory of Music: NEC prepares its students for a life in music, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs in performance, composition, improvisation, and music theory.

6. Oberlin Conservatory of Music: Associated with Oberlin College, the Conservatory is known for its commitment to diversity and access to music education. They offer programs in performance, composition, technology in music, and related arts.

7. Northwestern University Bienen School of Music: The Bienen School of Music offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs for a wide range of disciplines, from voice and opera to jazz studies to music cognition.

These are just some of the many schools with strong music programs. Make sure to connect with admissions officers or current students/faculty at these schools to learn more about their programs and course offerings. Consider your specific interests within music as you explore these options. Each school has its unique strengths and resources.
