Best way to study for IB History SL/HL?

History has always been one of my favorite subjects, but I'm a little bit stressed about preparing for IB History SL/HL exams. Anyone here have advice on which resources to use and study strategies that worked for them?

Hey there! It's completely normal to be stressed about preparing for IB History exams, but don't worry, there are plenty of resources and strategies out there to help you succeed!

Firstly, focus on understanding the key themes, events, and historical figures covered in your course. Make sure you have a solid grasp of the historical context and how different events are interconnected.

To do this, utilize your class notes, textbook, and any supplementary readings assigned by your teacher. Creating a timeline can be a great visual aid for organizing information chronologically and understanding cause-and-effect relationships.

Additionally, reviewing past exam papers and practicing document-based questions (DBQs) can help familiarize you with the exam format and improve your skill in analyzing primary and secondary sources. Make sure to time yourself while practicing to simulate test conditions.

In terms of resources, the official IB website offers subject guides, assessment resources, and past exam papers. Do remember to give yourself enough time to study and break up the material into manageable sections, as trying to cram everything in all at once will likely lead to names and dates getting jumbled in your head.

Good luck with your exam preparation!
