Considering majors at the University of Pennsylvania?

I'm trying to get a grasp on the different major options available at the University of Pennsylvania. Can anyone share their experiences? How flexible is the program if I decide to change my major later on?

At the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), there are a plethora of majors available to consider, within both liberal arts and sciences, engineering, nursing, or business. As a student, you'll have access to four schools at the undergrad level: The College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Nursing, and the Wharton School of Business. Each of these schools has a big variety of majors, from Anthropology to Bioengineering, Finance to Nutrition Science.

UPenn values interdisciplinary study, so they encourage students to explore academic interests across disciplines. If you're interested in business and computer science, they have a Management and Technology Program. They also offer 'dual degree' programs where you can earn degrees from two different schools. The flexibility you get truly is one of UPenn's strengths.

If you're unsure about your major—don't worry, you're not the only one! Many students come in unsure or end up changing their major. UPenn does allow students to change their major once in the school, but transferring schools (for example, transferring from Wharton to the College) involves a separate application process and isn't always guaranteed.

Keep in mind your choice of major is not the be-all and end-all; it’s just one component of your broader college experience. Exposure to many ideas and fields can be equally educative and beneficial for your future career. UPenn’s broad academic offerings and flexible intellect would provide you with ample opportunity to explore and then settle on what you love.
