What's ABAC like in terms of academics and atmosphere?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking of applying to ABAC, but I'm not sure what the academic programs are like. How's the general campus vibe? I'm interested in a school that's not overwhelmingly large, where I can still get a good education.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, also known as ABAC, is a public college located in Tifton, Georgia that's a part of the University System of Georgia. As suggested by its name, ABAC places a large emphasis on agricultural and environmental sciences. It has a strong reputation for its associate and bachelor’s degree programs in areas like agriculture (species-specific programs such as equine and beef cattle are offered), forestry and wildlife management, and agricultural education. However, it also has a broad range of other programs, so depending on your specific academic interest, ABAC might be a pleasant surprise.

In terms of vibe and atmosphere, ABAC is a moderately-sized institution, with an enrollment of nearly 4,000 students, enabling a student-faculty ratio of 20:1. This means you will likely have ample opportunities to engage with your professors, making it a community with tight-knit learning dynamics. The campus is widely recognized for its beauty—there's even a lake, a forest, and a working farm!

Student life at ABAC is also vibrant, it boasts over 50 clubs and organizations, so there are plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow students outside of class. Its rural setting also provides a number of outdoor activities for those who are into nature and adventure.

In general, students studying at ABAC often describe their college experience as fulfilling and engaging thanks to the combination of strong academic programs and an active, outdoor-oriented student life.
