How is Oxy University ranked for undergraduate studies?

Occidental College (Oxy) has been on my radar as I research colleges. Can anyone share how well it ranks for undergraduate programs, and what are its strengths and unique aspects?

Occidental College, commonly referred to as Oxy, is often recognized for its solid undergraduate programs. As of the most recent rankings, it stands at #34 in National Liberal Arts Colleges according to U.S. News and World Report. It shines particularly for its close-knit community and emphasis on a well-rounded liberal arts education.

Oxy's strengths include the social sciences, particularly international relations, and psychology, but all of their liberal arts programs are quite strong. The interdisciplinary Sociology and Education Program is notable for its intensive research and collaboration opportunities. Additionally, Oxy is known for its strong environmental science programs.

Engaged learning and hands-on experience are important parts of Oxy's educational model. Many courses integrate practical, real-world experiences into the curriculum, such as fieldwork, internships, or community-based learning in Los Angeles.

Lastly, Oxy also places a great emphasis on promoting diversity and inclusion. The college is committed to providing an inclusive environment and actively engages in efforts to broaden perspectives among the student population. This is facilitated through the cultural and social diversity of Los Angeles.

A great strength for Oxy is its location in Los Angeles, one of the world's leading cultural, business, and creative capitals. This gives students easy access to a variety of internships, job prospects, and cultural experiences.

Remember, though, a school's ranking only provides a limited view and shouldn't be the sole deciding factor. Consider whether the school aligns with your interests, career goals, and the kind of college experience you're seeking.
