Best art schools in Atlanta to consider?

I'm interested in art schools based in Atlanta. Can anyone suggest which ones have the strongest programs and what the student culture is like there? Any tips would be appreciated!

While Atlanta is a hub for creativity and offers several colleges with strong art programs, make sure to consider a few things when exploring options: the specific area of art you're interested in, the reputation of the art department, faculty, job placement rates, and campus culture.

1. Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) - Atlanta: Known for a comprehensive suite of art programs like animation, graphic design, illustration, and more. SCAD is particularly well-regarded for its Film, TV, Animation, and SCADPro (a program offering students opportunities to work on real-world projects with big-name companies) initiatives. The school places a strong emphasis on preparing students for professional careers in art and design. SCAD has a lively student culture and is home to students from 115 countries and all 50 U.S. states.

2. Georgia State University's Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design: Offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in studio art, art education, and art history. Students can benefit from an urban campus environment with accessibility to Atlanta's thriving art scene. About 75% of students are in-state, contributing to a close-knit community feel and regional focus in their work.

3. Emory University's Department of Art History: If you're interested in Art History, Emory has a strong program. It also offers minors in Visual Arts and Film and Media Studies. The student culture at Emory has a Pre-Professional focus, and its proximity to the High Museum of Art offers great opportunities for experiencing art first-hand.

Don't forget to visit, if possible, to get a feel for each campus and meet current students or faculty!
