Touring colleges during summer break?

Hey, I'm planning on visiting some colleges during the summer break. How can I make the most out of these tours? And is it a good idea to write notes about each campus so I can remember them better when applying?

Absolutely, visiting colleges during summer break is a great idea! To make the most out of your tours, try the following: 1) Attend any info sessions provided by the school which will give you more in-depth information about the campus, academics, and student life. 2) Take the campus tour to explore various facilities like libraries, dorms, and recreation centers. 3) Try to engage with current students to get a feel of their experiences. Although the last point might be harder with school out of session, there should still be students doing summer courses that you can hopefully meet, or you can ask the admissions office if they have any students they could put you in contact with.

Writing notes about each campus is a fantastic strategy to keep track of your impressions. Not only will it help you to remember what you liked or didn't like about each school, but it can also be insightful when writing your college essays. When supplementing your application with the 'Why this College?' essay, you'll have specific details and experiences to draw upon. Additionally, you may want to take photos of things that stand out on your tour and consider visiting other nearby colleges to maximize your trip.

Enjoy your college tours!
