Tufts University: Is It a Good School?

Tufts is on my college list, but I want to know if it's considered a good school. How are the academics and student life there? Any advice from current students or alumni would be awesome!

Tufts University is indeed considered a well-renowned institution, especially known for its many prestigious programs in International Relations, Biomedical Sciences, Economics, and Liberal Arts, among others. The academics at Tufts are rigorous yet rewarding due to their comprehensive curriculum, community-driven approach to learning, and commitment to fostering innovation and creativity among students.

Student life at Tufts is generally vibrant, with plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in extracurricular activities. There are over 300+ clubs and organizations on campus, covering a wide array of interests like arts, civic engagement, cultural unions, academic societies, and more. Many students enjoy the balance between the lively urban setting of Somerville/Medford (where the main campus is located) and the more relaxed suburban atmosphere of the campus itself.

One of the notable cultural aspects of Tufts is its commitment to active citizenship and public service. The university encourages students to participate in community service and engagement both locally and globally.

However, like at any school, the experience is what you make of it. You may find that what one person enjoys about Tufts, another person might not. Reaching out to current students or alumni would offer a more personal perspective. You might also consider attending a virtual information session, taking a virtual campus tour, or reading student blogs to get a better sense of life at Tufts.

Lastly, while these aspects of the university can give you an idea of what it might feel like to be a student, I encourage you to consider what you want in a university – from academics to extracurriculars to campus culture and beyond. This will help you determine whether Tufts is not just a good school, but also the right one for you!
