International student scholarships at Southern Utah University?

Does anyone have insights on scholarships for international students at Southern Utah University? What are the available options, and are they competitive? Any advice on the application process would be super helpful!

Southern Utah University (SUU) has several scholarships available for international students.

The Thunderbird Scholarship may be of particular interest, as it's available to international first-year applicants demonstrating strong academic potential. Awards can range from $6,000 to $9,000 per year and are renewable for three additional years (total of four years) if you maintain the required GPA and full-time status. These scholarships are competitive as they are only given to the top applicants based on GPA, ACT/SAT scores, or the English proficiency score for international students.

Another option is the International Civic Engagement Scholarship. To be eligible, you need to engage in experiential learning or service engagement activities. It is a one-time award for $1,000.

For the application process, start by completing the online application for admission, where you can also apply for the Thunderbird Scholarship. Make sure to submit all the necessary documents, including your high school transcript, letters of recommendation, and an essay among others.

For the International Civic Engagement Scholarship, you need to complete a separate application where you will highlight your civic engagement experiences and goals. This is in addition to your application for admission.

Remember, deadlines are crucial. SUU's policy is to provide a scholarship notification within two weeks of admission, so you’ll want to apply for both admission and scholarships early to maximize your aid options. As always, you could reach out to SUU’s Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for more personalized advice.

Each university and scholarship may have their own specifics, but these are some general suggestions to get you started in the search. Good luck!
