NY Regents Exams—How many are there?

Hey y'all! I live in New York and I was wondering how many different Regents exams are there? Do I need to take them all or just specific ones for my classes? Any info would be super helpful!

Hey there! The NY Regents exams cover a variety of subjects. As of last time I checked, there were 10 Regents exams available, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, English Language Arts (ELA), Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, and two for U.S. and Global History & Geography. You don't need to take all of them. Your specific classes and graduation requirements will determine which exams you have to take.

Typically, NY students are required to pass at least five Regents exams to qualify for a Regents diploma. This includes the ELA, one math, one science, and two history exams (one U.S. history and one global history).

Some schools and students may aim for an advanced Regents diploma for meeting additional requirements. Always consult your guidance counselor or the New York State Education Department website for up-to-date information and requirements tailored to your individual needs. Good luck!
