Looking for international student scholarships at the University of Pennsylvania

Hi guys! UPenn is high on my list but I'm worried about tuition. Does anyone know what scholarships are available for international students, and how competitive they are? Any info would be appreciated!

Hello! As an international student interested in the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), you have a valid concern about tuition rates and how to offset these costs. While costs can be a significant hurdle, there are options that can help you manage these expenses.

UPenn has a need-based financial aid policy that includes international students. This means that they measure your ability to contribute towards education costs and offer assistance based on the difference between their measure and the total cost of attendance.

The school claims to meet 100% of every student's demonstrated financial need with loan-free aid packages, enabling students to graduate debt-free. This includes international students, and the total award can cover tuition, fees, room and board, books, and other expenses.

Applying for financial aid is highly competitive, given the number of students attending UPenn and the limited resources. But don't let this discourage you. It's all about demonstrating your financial need and potential benefit to the university in your application.

The application process for international students is similar to that of domestic students. You must indicate your intention to apply for financial aid when you submit your application for admission. Alongside your admission application, you'll also need to provide family financial information using the College Scholarship Service (CSS) Profile form.

Just be aware that you stand your best chance of receiving aid if you apply for it when you submit your application for admission, as UPenn’s financial aid policy is to give priority to students who apply at the time of admission.

Don't limit yourself to just need-based aid from UPenn. There are plenty of external scholarships for international students, so invest time in looking for those. Good luck with your application!
