Defining an academic honor

Can someone clarify what exactly qualifies as an 'academic honor'? I'm not sure if certain achievements I have would be considered strong enough when filling out my college applications.

An academic honor generally refers to an achievement or recognition you received based on your scholastic performance, involvement in academic-related clubs, or participation in research or intellectual competitions. Some examples include being on the honor roll or Dean's List, being a National Merit Scholar, or winning a science fair.

That said, don't be too concerned about whether your achievements are 'strong enough,' since colleges like to see genuine passion and commitment to learning. If you believe your accomplishments reflect your dedication to academics, it's worth including them in your application. But also make sure to present a well-rounded profile, showcasing your extracurricular activities and personal qualities, not just academic accomplishments.

Remember, college admissions officers review the entire package, so if something doesn't seem like a standout 'academic honor' on its own, it could still contribute to showcasing your overall potential as a student. So go ahead and list those achievements you're proud of, and focus on presenting a balanced and genuine application. Good luck!
