Are there any scholarships for international students at Hampton University?

As an international applicant considering Hampton University, I'm eager to find out if there are scholarships available to help with tuition and other expenses. Does anyone know what options are out there?

Hampton University does offer some scholarship opportunities that international students can apply for. The Presidential Scholarships and Merit Scholarships are most noteworthy among them. These are awarded based on academic achievement and require no separate application.

The Presidential Scholarship covers the full tuition, room, board, and a book voucher for all four years, provided the student maintains a certain GPA throughout their studies.

Similarly, the Merit Scholarships are awarded in varying amounts to freshmen based on high school GPA and SAT/ACT scores. The Merit Scholarships are renewable for a total of up to eight semesters, provided the student maintains a certain GPA.

You should note, however, that while these scholarships are academically competitive, they are not exclusive to international students. Do make sure to check the specific eligibility criteria and requirements for these scholarships on the university’s website or get in touch with the financial aid office for comprehensive details.

Aside from scholarships offered by Hampton University, international students may also explore external funding opportunities like scholarships from their home country's government or private organizations. On a federal level, U.S. government scholarships may be limited for non-resident international students, but regional or private funding can indeed be a viable option.

Keep in mind, too, that working on-campus is an option for international students on an F1 visa if you're looking for additional ways to finance your education.

Best of luck with your scholarship search! It can be a long process, but your efforts can really pay off in the end.
